We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Puerto Vallarta and our stay at Friendly Hola. The staff is incredibly nice and everything is delivered with a smile! They all looked happy to be there and I found myself questioning if any place staffed by people in the states would even compare! -sad but true- If you are high-maintenanced this is NOT the place for you because it is not like a Sandals. Our room was great but the bed and pillows were too hard for our liking. The meal schedule is also a little tough to get figured out right away but ultimately there is always somewhere to get food at any hour. It is in a great location--within walking distance to the marina and a * peso-about * safe --but I guess I should mention we are from Memphis, haha.

This was my second time to PV.First-time's stay was in a beautiful resort...this was very different. This hotel's location to downtown/main attractions very good, 'bout five minutes by bus/taxi...location, is the only positive feature.Hotel was VERY mediocre.Furnishings worn, very low-end Levitz-like, cheap oatmeal and faded blue upholstry very un-tropical non-resort like, more like a couple stars above a Super 8. Meals were awful.First night was a buffet on the beach...could not eat it.The "Gourmet", actual name of one of the on-site restaurants which you HAD to make a reservation...terrible, shrimp in this orangey-brown sauce-did not eat. Free drinks? OMG...if you like screw-cap big round bottle jug wine, incredibly cheap booze, the worst margarita you'll ever attempt to drink.Although paid for all-inclusive, always went to town for meals.Rooms had 2 small double beds, not sure how two people could fit comfortably together on one and a little softer than rock-hard.At 12 noon everyday they turn on the music and blast 'All the single ladies..All the single ladies.." then 3 small fit men in bikini bottoms get into the 1 ugly pool centrally located where all rooms look down upon and guide elderly Americans, a few young women through a morning aerobic pool exercise..help...Every day....make sure you didn't stay out too late the night before because you will not be able to sleep through this. So, if you have similar tastes and instead hope for a beautiful colorful tropical looking resort, with a couple of beautiful architecturally well-designed pools, maybe even a swim up pool for drinks, waiters/waitresses at pool side taking your drink order, gorgeous tropical landscaping, a hotel where the median age of it's clients isn't mid 60s, good food, good snacks, quiet rooms with comfortable beds, it isn't here.

This is probably the best of the middle of the road hotels in P.V. The hotel and facillities are very well maintained and managed. The food was very good. Hotel staff was the best I have ever experienced in Mexico. Beverages, well, the booze was the cheap stuff and the mixes were not much better. Overall, in my opinion, for a nice vacation that doesn't break the bank or put you in a undesirable area, the Friendly Hola Vallarta is a very high vaue hoel in P.V.

I had a great time at Hola. The hotel is recently remodeled and the staff was really nice. During late summer it's pretty hot and humid and few foreigners were present at the hotel while I was there. I read a review where someone complained about Mexican nationals staying at the hotel, well you're in Mexico and Mexicans also like to vacation. I went by myself and quickly made friends with the staff and other visitors. This is also a great place for families to stay. I recommend the all inclusive option because on that side of Puerto Vallarta there aren't many restaurants near by and having to look for food multiple times a day would be a chore. The entertainment staff was really friendly and they take people out dancing every night if your into that. They also have karaoke and trivia games in the evening as well as shows (not the greatest production quality but fun). It's a good deal for what you pay.
